Learning contexts

Music education is an important part of education for all children. Music learning can take place in a variety of different learning contexts - in classrooms, on excursions, in school grounds and other different learning environments. When trying to implement music education in schools however, many teachers face challenges which impact on their ability to provide quality music learning. In thecontext room you will find various common problems presented as case studies. Engaging with these will enable pre-service teachers to derive possible solutions to real problems that they might face as teachers in the future. There will be twelve case studies for pre-service teachers to investigate.

Currently, we have four case studies for your investigation in the Moodle site. Here you can meet current teachers, view their context and listen to their current problem in music education. You will learn about the school, their class and their experiences with music education. After meeting the teacher, you can suggest possible solutions using the discussion forum or the project wiki. You may also like to comment upon solutions proposed by others.
