Case studies

Central to this project is the use of music education case studies from different contexts. In each case study, students will meet the teacher and develop an understanding of the teacher's problem with music education. Pre-service teachers are expected to read these case studies and then propose solutions to these problems in the student room. Two examples of the contexts are provided below . All case studies can be viewed by accessing the Moodle Site (see the site info page if you are unsure of how this is done).

Two case study examples

1. Music learning in an informal environment "Creating in the Skate Park" (introduction and problem only)

Teacher: Susie
Year Level: 8
Bringing the arts and music out of the classroom and into an informal learning environment can be difficult. Meet middle schooling teacher Susie at the skate park. She wants to use this site for arts and music learning that will engage her students.
