Student room

Description and protocols

Beginning music teaching can be a challenging experience, with beginning teachers sometimes experiencing a 'roller coaster' ride of experiences as they enter new learning contexts. Music teachers will be expected to conduct new activities, integrate new musical concepts or organise different musical learning contexts.

This room has been created exclusively for pre-service teachers to collaborate, problem solve, reflect and dream of current and future contexts within a supportive online community. Pre-service teachers will be able to develop productive relationships with academics, teachers and pre-service teachers across Australia.

Information about role of students

As a pre-service teacher, we would like you to engage in all elements of this project. These elements include

  • proposing solutions in the 'collaborating' Wiki site;
  • commenting on others’ solutions and meeting the teachers in the discussion forum;
  • reflecting upon your experiences of engaging with these case studies in your online reflective journal;
  • gathering and evaluating effective online resources for use in the classroom;
  • dreaming of your ideal teaching contexts and experiences; and
  • providing constructive feedback to the project team.

As pre-service teachers, you may be asked to complete and reflect upon various aspects of this site as part of their course assessment. Please click on your institutions logo to learn more about your course.
