About the courses and institutions

Four institutions across Australia will collaborate in this project. Students and academics will have the opportunity to engage in collaboration through online problem-based learning. The collaboration that is central to this project between academics at different institutions will ensure that there are significant similarities in approach and assessment.


University of Southern Queensland Students

Pre-service teacher studying PRT2002 "Educating the Creative Person" will be involved in solving the problems provided from teachers in various contexts. This course encourages pre-service teachers to develop basic skills for teaching the arts syllabus strands through constructivist teaching approaches and authentic assessment.

University of Tasmania students

Pre-service teachers studying ESG765 Curriculum Issues in Arts Education will be involved in the project. This course is designed to increase the confidence of students by allowing students to develop and apply useful musical skills and understandings within early childhood and primary classroom context.

Griffith University students

Masters students will be involved in helping create more case studies for this project. Pre-service teachers involved in 1015VTA 'Music Education' will also be involved as they consolidate the understandings of the nature of the arts and arts education.

Charles Sturt University students

Pre-service teachers will be involved in EMA312 in the second semester of 2006. This subject is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to plan, implement and evaluate a program of arts-based learning in Primary school settings.
